Tissue Paper Leaves

I was really excited about our art activity today but, it failed in a sense.  It failed for the fact that there was no end result......but it was successful in the fact that they children had a great time, learned about fall, and used their fine motor skills in cutting, tearing and squeezing!  YEAH!!!!

So.....here is what we did.  Each child picked a leaf template to use (I thought this was maybe the reason it didn't work.....I used construction paper and maybe should have used poster board.....the instructions never said what type of paper to use.....I should have known, but I guess I was having a blonde moment!)   Anyway.....the children then tore or cut the tissue paper into smaller pieces.  Great project to do outside on a nice fall day!

Then, the real fun began.....squirt the template with water and lay the tissue paper on the water and then spray again......pretty easy!

When you are done, you should be able to pull the tissue paper off and find that the color has dyed the leaf template.....ours of course didn't, but will definitely try again with poster board and see if that makes a difference.

So, in the end.....we just decided to glue the tissue paper onto our templates and made pretty leaves that way!  I think either way.....the kids love their leaves and are proud of their hard work!
