Leaves.....Lots of Leaves

There aren't too many trees that have changed color yet (at least not around our neighborhood), but there is one particular tree across the street that has started to change (the children look out the window everyday during circle time and let me know how it's progressing).  Well, the other day they noticed it was really starting to turn a deep red color and they wanted to go check it out.  So, we went on a little nature walk and ended up picking some of the leaves up to use that morning.

Here's our pile!

We first sorted our leaves by color.....yellow, orange, red, and brown.

We found this really cool leaf.....the kids thought it looked like fire!

After sorting the leaves, each child picked a couple leaves to do some leaf rubbing in their journals.

Before we were done with the leaves, I asked the children if they would like to make a wreath together.....they of course said YES!!!  To make our wreath, we first cut a circle out of a paper plate.

Then each child took their turn putting leaves on the wreath.

That's it.....the children said it's their "Friendship Wreath" since all their friends helped make it!!!
