Thanksgiving Placemats

I think Thanksgiving placemats are a must for children.....there are so many different ones to choose from.....the ever-so-popuar handprint turkey placemat, the paper weaving placemat, and you can also cut out pictures of things you are thankful for and paste them down.  Well, I wanted to do something different......so we decided on leaves since they are so bright and colorful right now.

Materials Needed:
Construction paper
Glue
Leaves
Contact Paper

Ask each child what color paper they want to use and also what they are thankful for.  If you don't want to type it out, you can always write in on their large piece paper.  Then just let them decorate with colorful leaves......very easy and good for any age child.  Another idea is to paint the leaves and then stamp them on the paper (a little harder for the younger ones) or you could also use leaf stamps if you have some.  So many fun options when making placeamats.

When they are all finished and dry, you can either put clear contact paper on both sides or have them laminated.  I used all my contact paper for their turkeys, so will be getting some more to finish them up and then we will use them for our Thanksgiving lunch next week.
