Salt Art

This activity uses things most of you probably already have on hand.  Food coloring (put water in a cup and add some food coloring to color the water), salt and glue.  Pretty basic.

You can also use watercolors or liquid watercolors instead of the food coloring.

Have the children squeeze glue on their paper.......they can squeeze it all over or make a design (rainbows are fun to make with his activity as well).

Then pour salt all over the glue and shake off the excess.

B was making sure she got the glue in the corner covered!

Now take your food coloring and water mixture.  Dip a small paint brush in and just touch the salt......it will spread the color a little bit.  Cover all the salt this way.....I encouraged the children to just touch it because if they brush it, the salt would all come off.

B was done......not at all interested!

This activity kept some of the children's attention more than others and that's ok.
