Milk and Food Coloring

Yesterday we did 2 different activities with milk and food coloring.

We first colored our toast.....this is so fun and the kids always get a kick out of painting their food.
All you need is milk, food coloring, bread, and new paint brushes.

Add food coloring to your milk.

Then let the kids paint their bread with the colored milk.

Toast the bread.

You can tell the girls spent more time on their bread.......they wanted to cover it!

And eat!  Of course you can also spread some butter or jelly on as well

 They loved it!

We also did a fun little experiment with milk (2% or Vitamin D), food coloring and dish soap.

Fill the bowl or plate with a thin layer of milk and add a few drops of food coloring.

Then drip some dish soap on the food coloring and watch it move.....the milk fat reacts to the soap.....it will spin for quite a while and if you add dish soap to the dark areas, you can keep the action going even longer.....the kids thought it was pretty cool and we did this over and over again......so cool to watch!  An experiment that makes some cool art to look at.

Cowboy Day at Parkside

Last year, Penni Funk, from Parkside Homes invited us several times to come visit the residents and do special things with them.  Well, today was Cowboy Day, so they invited us to dress-up as cowboys and cowgirls and come visit......they promised there would be horses!  The kids were very excited and came all dressed-up this morning.  Cooper was very sad that he was missing out.....he unfortunately had to go to preschool this afternoon.

Maddox wasn't so sure about touching the horses, but Penni finally got him to so I could get a picture.....he liked the dog instead, which is actually named Teddy after my grandpa Ted!

We had a fun time, but I think everyone was ready for a NAP!!!

Drip Painting

Yesterday we did a fun outside painting project.....and then I made the mistake and left it outside and it rained.....oops!  Oh well, it was fun and it's all about the process, right??!!!

I put some paint in squeeze bottles and added a little water......you want it a little watered down so the paint drips.  Hang some paper up outside and if you don't want paint on your grass, then lay something beneath the paper for the drips.

Then let the kids squeeze paint at the top of the paper and let the paint drip down.

SO MUCH FUN!!!  Next time, and there will be a next time, bigger paper and more paint!  They had a blast doing this and asked to do more.....I even had a turn and I have to agree, it was fun!

We also celebrated D's birthday......she brought Princess cupcakes for us!
