B is for Balloons

We talked about different kinds of balloons this week......hot air balloons, helium filled balloons, balloons you blow up, and also other types of things to put in balloons.

We watched some videos on You Tube of hot air balloon festivals.....they were pretty cool to watch and they liked seeing the different characters on the balloons too.
So, we made our own hot air balloons using coffee filters and liquid water colors.....we just dripped the watercolors on the coffee filters and let them dry.

Then we attached string and a construction paper basket.
I think these turned out super cute!

We also filled some balloons with different sensory items.....flour, salt, dry macaroni, oatmeal, and rice.  These were great to squish around and guess what was inside them.  We have even left them out to just feel and squish......great for a child that needs to calm themselves down too (the flour one is a great for that).

And finally some balloon painting.....I filled some balloons up with a little bit of air and then they dipped in paint and bounced them on their paper.  You can make small prints or large prints depending how much you "bounce" them.

A fun abstract art project!
